Spiced Apple Butter

The taste of fall is in every jar of delicious, spiced apple butter! Just the aroma in itself is enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside! The beautiful season of fall where the leaves are falling, and fresh apples and pumpkins are being picked is and forever will be my favorite time of the year! Add a little spread of this apple butter to your favorite gluten free toasted bread and indulge in the flavors of fall on a crisp, cool morning as you sip your coffee! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 6 Gala apples (peeled and chopped)

  • 2 tbsp of lemon juice

  • 1 cup or raw maple syrup

  • 1/2 tsp of salt

  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp of ground cloves

  • 1 tsp of nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup of water (put aside till later)

Directions:

Peel and chop your apples and then toss them in a medium pot along with your lemon juice, maple syrup, salt and spices and bring to a boil. Then give it a stir and put on the lid and then turn your burner to medium/ high heat and allow the apples to simmer for 45 minutes. Then, add in the water and then using a handheld immersion blender, purée the apples till they reach an applesauce like texture and then disperse the apple butter amongst two 8 oz canning jars and secure the lids. Enjoy!
