Bullet Proof Coffee

Yes, you guys. Bullet proof coffee is the real deal! So often we hear of "the next best new thing" and assume that it's just a bunch of hype. However, I am here to testify that truly, bullet proof coffee makes such a difference in one's energy and metabolism and for the last couple of years, I have tried my best to not go a day without it! How does it work? Well, it's simple really. When we wake up first thing in the morning our metabolism is technically still in "sleep mode" and it is up to US to reignite it. Now, carbohydrates and protein cause a shift in the body's glucose which must be burned. So, when we eat breakfast first thing our body is given the job of burning through the new glucose that has entered it's system. However, the grass fed butter that we blend in our bullet proof coffee does something truly amazing. Because it is a healthy fat source and not a protein or a carbohydrate source, it has the power to ignite the metabolism first thing in the morning without giving it any extra glucose to burn. So, what does this mean? Your body's metabolism is not just ignited by drinking the coffee but your body is able to more effectively start breaking down your fat stores (as opposed to glucose). How cool is that right? I typically start my morning at 6AM with bullet proof coffee and eat breakfast a couple hours later. Honestly, it is this busy mama's saving grace on busy school mornings! I hope that if you have been looking for a little extra metabolism and/ or energy boost you won't delay in giving this delicious coffee a try!

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces of organic, brewed coffee

  • 1 tbsp. of grass fed butter (my favorite brand is Kerrygold's)

  • 2 tbsp. of unsweetened coconut or oat milk

  • a couple drops of stevia or monk fruit extract

Directions:

Brew your coffee and pour it into a mug and then add the butter to top and give in a minute or two to melt. Then, add the milk and monk fruit or stevia extract and blend thoroughly with a power elixir (this should give it a very creamy latte-like consistency). Then... ENJOY!
