A healthy life doesn’t just happen. As with anything worthwhile in life, it requires strategic planning. Let me help you get started with these basic questions first. What foods do I want into my body? What recipes do I want to make this coming week? When am I going to the grocery store? When am I going to meal prep or take the time to cook these recipes? Time and time again as a nutritional consultant, I have heard that “I just don’t have time to eat healthy or lead a healthy life.” The truth is we are all busy. No one has the luxury of zero responsibilities. Whether you are a full-time employee, a stay-at-home-mom, a working mom from home, or are retired, I think it is safe to say we all have things going on and keeping us very busy.
So what gives? How can we possibly find extra time to grocery shop and cook healthy snacks and meals for ourselves and for our families? The answer is simple. We have to make the time but first, start by making our health a high enough priority. The truth is it really doesn’t take as much time as you think. Practically speaking, it takes on average twenty to thirty minutes to meal plan for the week ahead, twenty to thirty minutes to write a grocery list based off that meal plan, one or two hours to grocery shop (or even less if you choose to order on your phone and have it delivered), maybe thirty extra minutes to an hour of baking on the weekend, and twenty minutes an evening to throw together a wholesome meal. That may sound like a lot, but truthfully it isn’t when you consider that there are twenty-four hours in a day and 168 hours in a week. On average, that is only four hours a week, total, that we need to set aside to feed our families and ourselves well. We can ALL do that!
