Fiber...is it really all that important? The short answer is yes! It really IS that important if you want to reach optimal health and stay in shape! When we incorporate fiber into our diet it can help us immensely and in numerous of ways! Some of the top benefits of consuming adequate amounts of fiber are:

  1. Weight loss! Fiber helps maintain balanced blood sugar and it also keeps you feeling fuller for longer. Remember, high glucose levels encourage your body to store fat and low glucose levels leave you feeling weak and fatigued and make you crave simple carbohydrates and sugar. No, thank you!

  2. Fiber also helps protect your heart and lower your stroke and heart attack risk by helping your body excrete the dangerous LDL cholesterol out of your body. By doing this your artery walls remain nice and clean and without plaque build up!

  3. Helps keep you "regular" and helps prevent constipation which not only helps relieve our body of toxins but also helps you maintain a flatter stomach and slimmer physique. Now who doesn't want that right?

Fiber comes in two forms: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber turns into a gel like substance within the body and can be found in beans, apples, oats and seeds. This is the type that helps stabilize our glucose and healthy cholesterol levels. Insoluble fiber on the other hand does not dissolve in the body and remains whole as it is digested. This form is the type that aids our digestion. It can be found in berries, lentils, quinoa and dates. Now, both types can easily be consumed just by sticking to a whole food diet! There is no need to obsess if you are getting both types daily because if you practice clean eating and eat a variety of plant foods you will easily check both boxes! If on top of a healthy diet you still find that you are still suffering with constipation as many do, I highly recommend supplementing with phylum husk capsules as they work wonders! However you manage it, always try your best to get your fiber in daily so that you can achieve the many benefits above! Life is just too short to feel anything but our best and fiber is one of the very important elements to optimal heath! Don't miss out on it!
