The Many Health Benefits Of Peppermint

Peppermint is that festive herb that has both the power to refresh your body and your surroundings and is the star of the show around Christmas time especially. From peppermint hot chocolate (my recipe is coming out soon so stay tuned for that!) to candy canes, it's safe to say that peppermint is enjoyed in one way or another by most everyone in America throughout the holiday season. Unfortunately though, it is hardly ever eaten in its natural form. Instead it is processed and used in sugary treats and the amazing health benefits are masked by the garbage it's combined with. In it of itself though, it is a very powerful and amazing plant that we should all be taking advantage of.

Here are just a few of the benefits:

  • nausea

  • muscle tension and aches

  • aids in digestion

  • works as a bug repellent

  • keeps cravings at bay

I personally love the aroma of peppermint so much that I will often add peppermint essential oils to my DIY cleaner at home. I also love using mint leaves in several of my recipes from savory to sweet! Also, you can't go wrong with a cozy and hot peppermint tea especially during this season when we are often eating more savory foods to aid with digestion. Whichever way you choose to get in it doesn't matter just don't miss out on this amazing and beneficial herb!
